Hubert Steiner is a German bassist known primarily for his collaboration with Thees Uhlmann, joining his live band when he launched his solo career in 2011. In that lineup, Steiner provided the driving bass lines alongside Tobias Kuhn (guitar), Markus Perner (drums) and others, playing numerous major German festivals such as Rock am Ring and Hurricane. Hubert also worked with Sportfreunde Stiller and is the founding bass player of the Augsburg/Munich‑based prog-rock and psychedelic band Carpet, which emerged from a solo project by Maximilian Stephan and developed into a full ensemble in 2010, with Hubert contributing bass from the start.

Hubert's playing reflects versatility across indie, rock, and more experimental jazz‑influenced settings. With Thees Uhlmann, he provides solid, song‑anchoring bass – tight, supportive and tuned to Uhlmann’s singer‑songwriter aesthetic and festival‑ready indie‑rock dynamics. In Carpet, he explores richer, adventurous textures: The style blends progressive rock, stoner and psychedelic elements with jazz-infused improvisation, where the bass often weaves complex grooves and melodic interplay within extended arrangements. Playing primarily with a pick, his fat tone delivers serious drive and groove.
